CONVERSION
There are many types of conversion such as digital to and from analog; film to video or computer; the foreign conversions to U.S. video format, i.e.: PAL, Secam, or NTSC; CD, DVD or web-streams, and standard def to high def. Motion Productions takes pride in converting many formats into your needed application.
PAL/SECAM/NTSC
We do
foreign conversions to US video format i.e.: NTSC, PAL, &
SECAM video standards conversions between VHS, VHS-C, SVHS,
SVHS-C, Hi8mm, 8mm, Betamax, U-Matic, 3/4 SP, BetaCam, Betacam
SP, DigiBeta, DVCAM, DVC-Pro, MiniDV and DVD.
DIGITAL
TO & FROM ANALOG
There
are many types of digital and analog videotapes. Some of the
digital tape formats Motion Productions converts are mini-DV,
DVCAM, DVC-Pro, and DVC-Pro50. Some of the analog tape formats
are Betamax, SuperBeta, VHS, S-VHS, SVHS-C, 8mm, Hi-8, ¾
U-Matic, ¾ SP, Beta, Beta SP and most "reel to
reel" audio can also be transferred to tape or CD.
MOVIE
FILM TRANSFER
There are many types of movie film. Motion Productions transfers to video from 8mm, Super 8, Super 8 with sound, 16mm, and 16mm with sound. We also score music to your film to make it more enjoyable. Our pricing is simple. Just measure the reel diameter and give us the number of reels you have in each size.
Today most view their home movies on DVD. Your movie films are better quality than VHS tape can provide. It is much wiser to transfer to a master tape of higher quality than VHS, such as the new digital video formats and DVD. If you need to edit yourself, MiniDV is today’s choice for home editing. The DVD will be a little harder to edit. Video & DVD Duplications are available.
Some digital formats are MiniDV, DVCam and DVD. And if you transferred your film to VHS, the DVD transfer from VHS would be wasting the quality of your original films. The better selection for a master is DVCam or at least MiniDV.

PRINT
TO & FROM VIDEO
Motion Productions will convert still frames from video into a print or slide. The size ranges from 3" x 4" to 11" x 14".
Motion Productions' standard print transfer to video is $1.95 per picture or slide. This includes the transfer of a music track you provide. Average per-picture length is 5 to 7 seconds (you decide) with standard dissolves. For the more advanced digital fly-ins, add $2.50 for the pictures you would like to transition with the latest flair. Pictures and slides can be intermixed. Video & DVD Duplications are available.
Number the pictures on the back (top right corner) in the order you want them to be shown. Do not duplicate picture numbers within the same project. To protect your pictures, use simple ink or pencil (markers or crayon can smear on the next picture). Start with number one and end with the same number that equals the amount of pictures you have. Titles are $4.75 per page for simple titles and $7.00 per title page for more complex titles. Title rolls are $25.00. If you like, you may provide titles in a word processor file format. For more advanced computer users, you may provide graphics pages in 720 X 486 pixel resolution at 72 DPI on floppy, CD, or Zips. Also for the more advanced graphic artist, you may composite pictures with separate layers to be animated with your special-effect sequences. Composites are $20.00.
Your music should be provided on CD. Audiotapes can be used, but audio quality is lower. Your CD player can give you the seconds to match your pictures' timed sequence. Math is all you need to determine approximately which pictures will be shown. (I.e.: 5 sec. X 12 pictures = 60 seconds of the song used.) Make a list of the order of songs, then add the picture number to start and end each song. Changing songs too quickly or in the wrong part of the song can degrade the effect of your video. Another advantage of a CD is using your CD player timer to assign where, to the second, you are requesting to start or end within a song.
This is illustrated:
Pics 1-27 Happy Birthday Track #4 CD: Birthday Wishes starting: 00:15
Pics 28-41 Itsy, Bisty, Spider Track #2 CD: Nursery Rhymes starting at beginning and ending 01:32.
The DVD will produce much better picture quality than VHS. Video & DVD Duplications are available. For just a little more money you will preserve quality for the future. Some higher video formats are DVCam, DVC-Pro, MiniDV, Digital8, and DVD. Also, if you transfer your pictures to a VHS master, the DVD transfer from VHS would be wasting quality of your original pictures. The better selection for a master is DVCam or at least MiniDV.

COMPOSITING
This is
placing one or more pictures and/or titles together on one
screen. Sometimes this involves removing backgrounds or even
an object within a picture or pictures. This is priced at
$20.00 per image. Often Motion Productions animates the objects
to give movement in the video. You can create your own composite
to animate simply by providing the file with the objects on
separate layers.
POWERPOINT
TO & FROM VIDEO
PowerPoint can be transferred to video or DVD. This is a flat fee of $56.00 for either format with a maximum 2hr. show. Video & DVD Duplications are available. The PowerPoint file can be shipped to Motion Productions on CD, Zip, or email attachment. For success, it is necessary to save it as a "Pack and Go" file from the PowerPoint program. This feature can be found under the file menu below "Save As." The "Pack and Go" feature gives Motion Productions all the needed files you are using in the presentation to complete the video or DVD.
COMPUTER
GRAPHICS TO VIDEO
There
are many types of graphics conversion to video. Most DPI settings
for video should be 72DPI. Your resolution should be between
640X480 to 720X486. The higher the better, however today's
video will only show this range of resolution. This can be
a problem with small fonts and lines when converting your
higher resolution computer graphics to video. The computer
monitors display small type and lines much clearer than video.
Also the borders of the computer are larger than video. It
is better to allow a 30 pixel border called safe-text on all
sides of your image. Understanding this when creating graphics
for video is helpful for a great looking graphic on video.
VIDEO
TO CD
Approximately 24 minutes can be converted to CD. The size and frame rate can determine the maximum minutes to fit on a CD. Multimedia menus and text documents can add flavor; just remember, the standard CD only holds 700MB. Simple pricing includes CD autostart to run the M-PEG1video: 0-5mins $35.00; 5-10mins $60.00; 10-15mins $90.00; 15-24mins $120.00. CD Duplication is available.
Motion Productions uses SDI and their NLE/SDI for the purest M-PEG1 and M-PEG2 compression for CD production. Motion Productions also produces in every major video and audio format including QuickTime, Flash, Real Video, Windows Media Video, MPEG-4, AVI, MP3 and many others.
VIDEO TO DVD
DVD is the fastest growing consumer electronics format in history. Motion Productions uses the high-end DVD authoring systems in conjunction with SDI and NLE/SDI. Our encoding delivers real-time compression to the workflow while giving our clients the highest quality MPEG files used in DVD creation.
Our consumer DVD authoring is as low as $28.00 for up to a two-hour maximum from one tape. $10.00 each for additional tapes to fill the two-hour limit. This is not recommended for the corporate image since the menu is very simple-looking; however, this is a very high quality DVD.
For applications where chapter points need to be located in exact places within the video, but the chapter menu is not necessary, the authoring fee is $198.00
For applications where chapter points need to be located in exact places in the video, and the chapter menu is also necessary, the authoring fee is $298.00.
For "Motion Menus" and chapter menus, plus chapter points that need to be located in exact places in the video, the authoring fee is $345.00.
DVD has been a focus for Motion Productions from the start. Many corporations came to us early for our expertise in this growing field. With all the bells and whistles a DVD can utilize, Motion Productions fits these features to your need. Among the great features for corporations is the ability to place auto pauses in the playback, giving a stand-up speaker flexibility by not having to pause the video to speak untimed segments. The most popular feature that corporations use is the unlimited looping feature Motion Productions places in the DVD for the convention floor. No more rewinding the VCR. For these features the flat fee is $345.00 to author the DVD. See our DVD Duplication pricing for copies.
